The performativity of sound



Sasha Pirogova’s work, specially created for the exhibition, refers to the sound experiments of composer Dmitry Kurlandsky, who managed to turn listeners into performers of the work. According to the composer’s plan, listeners themselves become musical instruments, actively participating in the process of performing the work. Sasha Pirogova’s installation called MONO is based on a similar principle, involving the viewer in the interstitial space of plastic performance.
